Our initial projects focused on stopping violence between
Jews in well-known hot spots throughout Israel, including:
Bar Ilan Street
- where fighting broke out every Shabbat on whether
the road should be open or closed during Shabbat.
The Western Wall
- where fights broke out between Jews of various
backgrounds in regards to the religious practices of
various worshipers.
Kiryat Gat
- where a certain Jewish youth group took to
burning Mezuzot in protest.
In all cases we were able to stop the violence. Then
a pattern emerged. It became clear that our success
came as a result of implementing the beautiful values
needed to fulfill the basic Jewish tenent of "Love
Your Neighbor," which the Jewish people introduced
to the world.
The question we asked ourselves was, "Why isn't
Israel flowing with milk and honey and
'Love Your Neighbor?' Why doesn't a culture of trust,
respect, idealism, caring and working together to fulfill
common goals exist?"
Our response lead us to a program we called ISRAEL
TOMORROW.
